Python is a good programming language no doubt. But if you want to build logic, start with C. I would recomend head first c or c primer plus. Both are good books to start at. After you have learned C, python and all its underlying concepts would make musch more sense to you. But if for some reason you are not able to learn C, the check out head first programming. This book introduces you to the basics of programming and logic and uses python in doing so.

Algorithmic and logic first I'd say, regardless of the language. I struggled a lot at first as well, until the 'logic' part of my brain finally clicked. It took some time and frustration, but algorithmics and logic helped. Good luck !

Two suggestions: look at algorithm books and start to learn cooking. Both ways you will learn how to think, plan, imagine how to solve problems, create something with value: a solution to a problem or a tasty meal. Cooking is in analogy with programming: you think ahead, plan, execute certain things in proper order. If you mess the ingredients, steps or method you will end up creating something useless. Also you need to understand how the stove, vessels, knives, kitchen tools work, how you prepare fruit, vegetables, various meat and fish. You need to do the same in programming: you need to understand the commands, their function, limits, what and how to use them for various purposes. If you fail in cooking then you will fail in programming as well. The best outcome is you become a master in both fields.

IT guy with 12+ yrs of development experience. If you want to be a web developer, drop python and pick up something called node js, react or Angular. But to start with these you need to have basic understanding of how javascript works(essential). 2. Learn basic HTML and CSS. Design some random websites for fun, until you gain confidence. Don't listen to them. If you are planning to web dev, you need not waste your time and effort in reading through an algorithms book. It would be not worth your time and it would be very hard. Focus on a path to web dev. Instead read an intro. to logic and choose a language for a web dev like JS and stick with it.

Learn how to google stuff, it sounds pretty weird but programming is 80% knowing how to ask or search for a problem, the other 20% is experience. Start with any language you are interested in, you can always learn more languages later and it will be (mostly) easier then. GL

Any new skill is hard at beginning. Usually first 2-4 months (depends on person) are a drag and must be fought tgrough, so my only advise - be patient

Don't listen to all those experts. Ok, so there is a basic knowledge of what is a variable, what is a function etc. You gotta understand how to use that shit. It doesn't matter what language or tools you use. After that just start doing little tasks and google everything you don't get. It's gonna take about 2 weeks for you to stop being lost and get an understanding of what you need and where to learn about it.

So if web is your primary target, I would suggest learn javascript , start with angularjs and nodejs ... both have very formal structure and you will not need to learn algorithms and logic kind of things till you reach a few million hits or run into something really fancy !!

you could learn basic binarie operations. but whith programming you only get better by doing it. for basic stuff with if while and for . this you can pretty much transform onto every other langauge.
